Wet pour rubber surfacing:- this surface can be laid on tarmac, concrete or a prepared aggregate base. Thickness depends on the critical fall height of the equipment. There is a standard black finish or colours can be catered for as well as coloured inserts/motifs and games.
Nottsward safety carpet system is similar to an Astro Turf finish. This can be laid on tarmac, concrete and grass/soil surfaces. Critical fall height is accommodated by the number of material layers and the amount of sub aggregate installed. There is a standard green colour finish, but other colours can be used as well as coloured inserts/motifs and games like Hop-Scotch.
"Safegrass" rubber mats are a honeycombed rubber mat system that has a safe critical fall height of 3m. Mats are laid on grass or seeded areas around the equipment and allow grass growth for a natural finish.
Play Bark or Wood Chip is a natual product installed around the equipment either in raised or excavated areas. Depth is according to critical fall height of the equipment but is a minimum of 300mm. This system, while initially cheaper, does require regular maintenance and topping up.
All safety surface products are tested in line with BSEN1177. Critical fall height relates to the play height of the equipment and does not relate to the overall height of such equipment.
