BSEN1176 & 1177 are the European standards that cover play equipment and play surface safety requirements from manufacture to installation and testing. Our structures and any components supplied comply with these recommendations as do play surface specifications and testing. Previously, our installations have been inspected by R.O.S.P.A. Safety surfacing is installed to cater for critical fall heights of equipment and to cover safety margins around and between items of equipment.
Our structures are robust in design and all timber used is pressure treated with log frames and uprights carrying a 20 year treatment guarantee. Metal fixtures, chain and metal frames are plated or galvanized against surface rust and deterioration. Slides are made of stainless steel. Rope components have a steel core with a fibre coating. Bolt heads/fixings and recessed fixings have security caps or plugs to prevent tampering.
Safety Flooring:
BSEN1176 requires safety surfacing under equipment according to the equipment critical fall height and tested in line with BSEN1177. Playground safety surfacing is designed to stop those nasty injuries when play apparatus used to be positioned on concrete or tarmac surfaces. However, it will not eliminate injuries altogether. Children, whether by accident, excited or boisterous behaviour can still have bumps or scrapes, on and around play equipment or in other areas like running on a playground. By installing play surfacing in conjunction with safe equipment design we are striving to achieve an enjoyable environment which is as safe as possible for children to enjoy and explore their capabilities.
